John Richards is the current Chairperson of the National Association of Australian Teachers of the Deaf. John works as the Executive Principal of the Western Australian Institute for Deaf Education and has responsibility for overseeing and supporting the education of most of the deaf and hard of hearing children and students in Western Australia . He is also a Senior Fellow with the Deafness Studies Unit that is associated with the University of Melbourne. |

Dr Mary Lawson (Secretary) |
| Mary is an experienced Teacher of the Deaf. She has a PhD from the University of Melbourne. Her current role is Principal Education Officer: Strategic Development and Support within the Student Services and Priority Programs Directorate, Brisbane Catholic Education. She has been a member of the Committee of the National Association of Australian Teachers of the Deaf for a number of years and currently holds the position of National Secretary. | |
